KSA orders Tonybet to remove World Cup advert using recognisable player cues

Enforcement & compliance

The Kansspelautoriteit ordered Tonybet to remove a World Cup advert and prevent its reuse, saying its shirt numbers, national kits and other features made players recognisable. Tonybet said it had removed the advert and would not use it again. The regulator said the restriction on role models also applies when an advert evokes a known sports figure without showing an actual professional player.

The decision clarifies that gambling adverts can breach role-model restrictions through recognisable visual cues, not only by showing athletes.
