Italy's 2027 budget bill authorises the Customs and Monopolies Agency to open dedicated bank or postal accounts for receipt lottery prizes, according to a report. It also allows prizes below the anti-money-laundering threshold to be paid without identifying the winner, upon presentation of the winning ticket. The report says the technical assessment expects no additional public spending.
The budget law is reported to authorise the Customs and Monopolies Agency to open one or more bank or postal accounts dedicated to paying out winnings from the receipt lottery.
The measure also covers prizes below the threshold set by anti-money-laundering rules. Such prizes could be paid without identifying the winner, who would only need to present the winning ticket.
The provision is reportedly intended to make the administrative and financial management of prizes easier. The technical report states that the new provisions would bring no new or additional costs for public finances. The agency would handle the related tasks under agreements to be concluded for keeping and managing the bank or postal accounts.
