Indonesia reports blocking 3.7 million suspected gambling sites and items
Indonesia’s communications ministry has blocked 3.7 million websites and pieces of content linked to suspected online gambling since October 2024, Communications and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid said. The ministry also reported 38,000 suspected gambling-linked bank accounts, of which 32,500 had been closed, and said it was coordinating with financial authorities and banks.
The reported actions include financial accounts as well as online content, affecting channels suspected of supporting illegal gambling.
