IBJR study estimates illegal betting share in Brazil at 38% to 44%
A study commissioned by the Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming (IBJR) estimates that illegal platforms accounted for 38% to 44% of online betting in the first half of 2026, down from 41% to 51% in the previous survey. Instituto Locomotiva surveyed 2,291 players across Brazil in May 2026, while LCA Consultores produced the study.
The study gives Brazilian operators and regulators an estimate of illegal platforms’ share of online betting.
