Haarlemmermeer requires weekday casino closures from 1 July 2026

Haarlemmermeer’s five casinos must close between 02:00 and 07:00 on weekdays from 1 July 2026 under a change to the municipal rules, reportedly. At weekends, casinos may stay open, but cannot admit new visitors during those hours; PlayWorld Casino director Richard Stolwerk said the weekday closure could have unintended effects, including more online play at illegal sites.

Casino operators must adjust staffing and security for weekday closures while weekend admissions are restricted overnight.

Quaest poll puts bets and social media at 7% as source of hope nationwide

A Quaest poll found that 16% of respondents who were optimistic about Brazil's future cited regulation of betting and social media as a source of hope under President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. That group represented 44% of respondents, making the combined issue about 7% of the full sample; the poll did not separate betting from social-media regulation. The survey interviewed 2,004 people from 30 October to 2 November.
