Italy's 2027 budget bill provides for an additional Lotto and SuperEnalotto draw and changes to one-off residual debt payments for slot machines and VLTs. Article 29 covers the additional draw, while Article 32 addresses the debt payments.
The bill envisages 52 implementing measures, many of them assigned to the relevant ministries. Acts by the Customs and Monopolies Agency have a central role in implementing the gambling provisions.
A published assessment estimated that the bill's measures would impose more than €5bn in new costs on citizens and businesses. The main items include measures on excise duties, taxes and contributions, as well as gambling-specific provisions.
A Ministry of Economy and Finance decree on the debt payment provision is due by 15 January 2027.
