GRAI reports higher problem gambling among adults exposed during childhood

The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland said research by the ESRI’s Behavioural Research Unit found higher problem-gambling rates among adults exposed to gambling as children. Those who gambled as children were almost twice as likely to experience problem gambling, while those who both gambled as children and had a parent who gambled heavily were four times more likely.
The findings link childhood gambling exposure, especially alongside heavy parental gambling, with higher problem-gambling rates in adulthood.
