GRAI-commissioned study links childhood gambling exposure to adult harm

Regulation

A study commissioned by Ireland’s Gambling Regulatory Authority and conducted by the ESRI surveyed more than 1,600 adults in Ireland. It found adults who gambled before age 18 were almost twice as likely to develop gambling problems, while those with both early exposure and a gambling parent were four times as likely, the report said.

The findings inform Ireland’s prevention and education work on gambling-related harm among young people and families.
