Gespa-commissioned tests find underage betting accepted in 47.5% of Swiss checks

Regulation

Gespa commissioned test purchases at 200 sports-betting outlets in Zurich and Vaud between June and October 2025, according to a report published on 15 July 2026. Minors placed bets in 95 tests, while staff made no age check in 44.5% of cases; self-service terminals accepted bets in 18 of 27 attempts.

Test purchases found minors placed bets and age checks were often absent, highlighting weaknesses at Swiss betting outlets.
