Gallup survey reports lower US adult gambling participation than in 2016
Gallup’s phone survey found that 45% of US adult respondents had gambled, down from 64% in 2016; the survey interviewed 2,201 adults and reported a 3% margin of error. Lottery-ticket participation was 31%, compared with 49% in 2016, while the report said parallel online results differed, including a 38% lottery figure.
The differing phone and online survey results give industry stakeholders distinct estimates of gambling participation.
