French sanctions committee fines betting operator €20,000 over AML breaches

Enforcement & compliance

France’s National Sanctions Committee (CNS) fined an online betting operator and its director €20,000 each, and fined its compliance officer €5,000, after finding anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing breaches. The July decision, published on Tuesday, also imposed suspended two-month bans on all three from managing online betting activities; two other individuals were cleared. The ANJ had opened an inquiry after a listed individual’s account was confirmed in December 2023.

The penalties and suspended management bans show the consequences of AML and counter-terrorist-financing breaches.
