Flutter executive warns illegal betting could rival regulated World Cup market

Deals & M&A

Flutter International chief executive Dan Taylor said illegal betting could challenge regulated wagering during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He cited estimates of about $60bn in legal global bets and said Flutter expects its own betting volume to be roughly twice its level at Qatar 2022, with around 10 million active customers across its brands.

The estimates frame the scale of regulated and unauthorised betting expected during the tournament.
