Florida state senator Clay Yarborough filed SB 1164, a bill proposing changes to gambling rules and enforcement across the state. The measure would introduce criminal penalties for activities including illegal online gambling, game-fixing and advertising illegal gambling, and would take effect in October if enacted.
Operators and related businesses could face new criminal exposure if the proposed penalties become law.

New York state senator Jeremy Zellner introduced a bill to create a task force examining betting on individual athletes’ performances. The proposed group would assess the market, revenues, competition-integrity risks and effects on licensed operators, with a report due by 31 December.
Ohio state senator Bill DeMora introduced Senate Bill 430 to classify trading in sports-event contracts as sports gaming, the report said. The proposal would require platforms to obtain licences, follow regulator-set rules and pay taxes; it would give the Ohio Casino Control Commission oversight of those platforms.
Ohio state senator Louis Blessing proposed increasing the tax on sportsbook gross revenue from 20% to 22% through Senate Bill 199. Blessing said the increase could raise an additional $200 million annually for school athletics and sports venue work; senator Bill DeMora warned that operators could pass the cost to bettors.
Louisiana Senator Katrina Jackson-Andrews filed Senate Bill 354 for the 2026 Regular Session, proposing to prohibit operators from accepting or paying out on prop bets and live micro-bets. If approved in time, the measure is scheduled to take effect on 1 August.
Illinois senator Julie Morrison introduced a bill to include gambling-related problems in the state’s addiction treatment system, reportedly ahead of review by the Senate Executive Committee. The proposal would expand counselling and prevention services and establish a statewide hotline and online hub; the committee’s review will determine whether it advances for wider legislative debate.
