New Jersey senator proposes gambling oversight and tax measures

Regulation

New Jersey state senator John McKeon introduced proposals to restrict simulated casino apps for young users, increase operator liability for self-exclusion failures and raise taxes on online casinos and sports betting, according to the report. A separate proposal would require monthly user notifications summarising gambling wins and losses; the measures are under Senate review.

Operators could face new self-exclusion liability, tax rates and monthly activity-reporting requirements if the proposals pass.
