Tom Banks has left his corporate and external affairs role at FDJ United after four years, according to a report published on 6 May 2026. His departure came almost 18 months after FDJ United completed its €2.5bn acquisition of Kindred Group.

FDJ United said it was reviewing its online betting and gaming operations and non-core assets after higher gambling taxes weighed on first-half earnings. The company is considering possible market exits for parts of its online business and divestments of non-core assets, but did not identify specific markets or assets. First-half adjusted net profit fell 19% to €180 million.
The Netherlands’ Supreme Court ruled on 3 July that gambling agreements made before the Remote Gambling Act took effect cannot be invalidated under the earlier Betting and Gaming Act, reportedly. The decision concerns claims over pre-regulation losses, including a case brought for about 2,500 former Unibet customers that carried an estimated €75 million liability. FDJ United said the ruling provides certainty; the source says the court rejected the legal basis for these claims.
The Netherlands Supreme Court ruled on 3 July that gambling contracts made with unlicensed online operators before 1 October 2021 are not automatically void. Players may still seek annulment or damages on specific grounds, but recovery of losses must be assessed case by case. Entain welcomed the ruling, while the report also reports collective claims involving Unibet, Bwin, PartyCasino, PartyPoker and 888.
France's gambling gross gaming revenue reached €14.1bn in 2025, up 3% on 2024, according to the ANJ. Online GGR rose 8.5% to €2,617m, with online sports betting up 10.4% to €1,766m, while FDJ United's group GGR reached €8,706m.
The World Gaming and Betting Alliance has selected former European Gaming and Betting Association secretary general Maarten Haijer to lead the new global gambling body as director general. The organisation is due to hold its formal launch in Geneva in November, alongside publication of its first report; Bet365, Entain, Flutter Entertainment and FDJ United are listed as members.
