FATF warns online gambling platforms of money-laundering risks
The Financial Action Task Force warned that online gambling can expose operators and regulators to money-laundering risks, including through offshore platforms and multiple payment methods. Its risk indicators include shared payment methods, mismatches between a customer’s declared location and IP address, and large deposits and withdrawals with little betting activity.
The indicators give operators and regulators specific transaction patterns to consider in anti-money-laundering controls.
