EU court hears LeoVegas challenge to Italy’s gambling advertising ban
The Court of Justice of the European Union heard arguments on 1 July in LeoVegas Gaming’s challenge to an AGCOM sanction over television advertising for its games in November 2018. LeoVegas argues that Italy’s advertising ban conflicts with EU law, while AGCOM and the Italian government defend it; an Advocate General’s opinion is expected before the court sets a judgment date.
The ruling could affect the application of Italy’s gambling advertising ban and operators’ ability to advertise in the market.
