Entain ends Coral Cup sponsorship at Cheltenham

Deals & M&A

Entain is ending Coral’s sponsorship of The Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival, the company said. Director of consumer PR Simon Clare said higher taxes on betting operators and the statutory levy had prompted difficult business decisions, although horse racing remained important to Entain. Cheltenham Festival chief executive Guy Lavender thanked Coral for its long-term support.

Entain’s sponsorship withdrawal shows how higher operator taxes and the statutory levy can affect racing partnerships.
