Emilia-Romagna court upholds Ravenna betting shop closure over 500-metre rule
The Emilia-Romagna Regional Administrative Court rejected a betting shop operator’s appeal against Ravenna’s July 2025 closure order. The municipality had ordered the closure because the premises were less than 500 metres from a sensitive site, under regional rules and its own mapping. The court found no evidence that relocation was impossible across the municipality.
The ruling upholds the local distance restriction while finding it does not bar betting shops across Ravenna.
