Dutch Supreme Court rejects automatic recovery of pre-regulation gambling losses

Regulation

The Supreme Court of the Netherlands ruled that gambling agreements with unlicensed online operators before the regulated market opened on 1 October 2021 are not automatically void. The cases involved two players seeking to recover historical losses; Entain welcomed the decision, saying it supported its position on the validity of those agreements.

Operators can assess whether historical gambling-loss claims remain viable after the court rejected automatic refunds.
