DNB fines ABN Amro €8.5m over anti-money-laundering checks

Enforcement & compliance

The Dutch central bank, DNB, fined ABN Amro €8.5m after reviewing files from September 2023 to September 2024, reportedly. The bank failed to conduct sufficient checks in five cases, including one involving a gambler whose cash and card transactions did not match his income, DNB said.

The case shows banks may face enforcement over inadequate checks on gambling-related customer transactions.
