Connecticut bill would require annual gambling-harm programmes at public colleges
A bill in Connecticut's Senate proposes that public colleges and universities provide an on-campus problem-gambling programme at least once per academic year, the report said. The programmes would direct students to treatment and community resources, with institutions required to prioritise organisations funded by the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Researchers reported that about 70% of roughly 1,200 students surveyed had gambled in the previous 12 months.
The proposal would require public higher-education institutions to provide students with recurring problem-gambling support information.
