Colorado posts record sports betting tax revenue for fiscal 2025/2026

Regulation · SectorWire deskSource published 1 min read

Colorado's Division of Gaming recorded record tax revenue of almost €42m from sports betting in fiscal year 2025/2026, according to a report by Focus Gaming News. The state recorded a handle of about €3.12bn through July 2026, the report said.

The Problem Gambling Coalition of Colorado said support services for problem gamblers are struggling to keep pace with the growth, according to the report.

In August, a new sports betting law took effect in Colorado. It introduced new deposit limits, allowing bettors to make a maximum of six deposits within 24 hours, and banned the use of credit cards to top up gaming accounts.

The law also prohibited marketing initiatives aimed at people under 21 and barred operators from sending promotional notifications or text messages encouraging customers to play or make deposits.

Under the law, operators must transmit transaction data and indicators to the Division of Gaming at the Department of Revenue every year, starting from February 2028. The Division of Gaming will then publish a data report every three years, starting from January 2029.
