Colorado posts record sports betting tax revenue for 2025/2026

Regulation · SectorWire deskSource published 1 min read

Colorado's Division of Gaming recorded sports betting tax revenue of almost €42m in fiscal year 2025/2026. The state took about €3.12bn in wagers up to July 2026, the reports said.

The Problem Gambling Coalition of Colorado says support services for problem gamblers are struggling to keep pace with that growth, according to the reports.

A new sports betting law took effect in Colorado in August. It limits players to six deposits within 24 hours and bans the use of credit cards to top up gaming accounts. It also prohibits marketing initiatives aimed at people under 21 and bars operators from sending promotional notifications or text messages encouraging customers to play or make deposits.

Under the law, operators must send transaction data and indicators to the Division of Gaming at the Department of Revenue every year, starting from February 2028. The Division of Gaming will then publish a data report every three years, starting from January 2029.
