Italy's State Police ordered the temporary suspension of two businesses in Catania: a kiosk-bar in the Cibali district and a betting centre in the Antico Corso area. The closure orders last seven days and were issued by the Catania police chief.
At the Cibali kiosk-bar, officers from the Nesima police station repeatedly identified customers with criminal records, including football ultras already subject to Daspo bans, as well as people under precautionary and preventive measures. The measure against the bar and betting centre in Antico Corso was carried out by officers from the Centrale police station. Checks there over time established the constant presence of patrons with specific criminal records, including offences against property, drug dealing and criminal association, in some cases of a mafia type.
The measures followed a targeted investigation by the Administrative and Social Police Division, which arose from routine checks on public premises in the Catania area. The police chief signed immediate closure decrees for both businesses, citing a concrete danger to public order and safety documented by law enforcement.
