Campania administrative court orders €36,366 compensation over betting licence

Regulation

Campania’s administrative court ordered the Interior Ministry and Caserta municipality to pay a betting-shop owner €36,366, plus revaluation and interest, for costs incurred after the shop’s licence was annulled. The Questura had revoked the authorisation on 21 May 2024 after a local inspection found a sensitive site within 250 metres; the court rejected claims for lost profits and reputational damage.

The ruling assigns public authorities financial responsibility for errors in checks supporting a betting-shop licence.
