Cabo Verde's government forecasts CVE52 million in Special Gaming Tax revenue for 2027, according to the budget figures reported. The projection is 3.2% above the 2026 estimate, a smaller rise than the 7.9% increase anticipated in total tax receipts.
Of the CVE52 million, CVE26 million is allocated to the State Budget and CVE8 million to the Tourism Development Fund. The Education and Training Support Fund is to receive CVE3m, while the Sports Development Fund, the Autonomous Culture Support Fund and municipalities are each allocated CVE5m.
Other taxes are projected to generate CVE1.067 billion in 2027, a 4.9% rise over the 2026 estimate, with stamp duty predicted to increase by 5%. The budget states that the services sector, especially tourism, is expected to remain the main driver of economic activity, and that the economy should record real GDP growth of 5.6% in 2027.
The budget also projects a CVE32 million drop in the net result of the Cabo Verde Red Cross concessionaire's social gaming operations. Revenue from the Red Cross social game and its net profits are covered by separate figures and are not included in the gaming tax forecast; the CVE117m in social gaming revenue reported elsewhere in the budget is not part of the net-result measure.
The budget document lists the destinations for money raised through social games. These include healthcare and sports infrastructure, alongside education and culture. Social inclusion is another area named, as is backing for solidarity institutions.
“The Cabo Verdean economy should nevertheless record real GDP growth of 5.6% in 2027”
