Brazilian Justice Ministry notifies Apple and Google over betting apps

Regulation

Brazil’s Ministry of Justice notified Apple and Google over betting apps available in their stores that allegedly lacked operating authorisation and age checks. The ministry said a 29 June review found the issues persisted after earlier notices in April 2026; it requested further information on safeguards for users under 18. The notification is not a penalty, and the companies had not responded by publication.

The notices put app-store operators on notice about unauthorised betting apps and age-verification requirements in Brazil.
