Brazilian government orders betting sites blocked and bans gambling advertising

Regulation

Brazil’s federal government issued an interim measure signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva that orders betting sites and apps to become unavailable from 6 October and bans gambling advertising. The measure also restricts betting transactions through banks and payment services, while some rules require further regulation before full implementation.

Operators, advertisers and payment providers face restrictions on offering, promoting and processing betting services in Brazil.
