Piracicaba bans betting adverts on municipal property and at city events

Regulation

Piracicaba’s mayor, Helinho Zanatta, sanctioned a municipal law barring fixed-odds betting advertising on city property and at events run by the municipality. The rule covers brand displays, app and domain promotion, and promotional codes, among other formats; it takes effect 90 days after publication in the municipal gazette. Existing agreements retain their terms, while the restrictions apply to contracts entered into, renewed or extended after the law takes effect.

Operators and advertising partners must account for restrictions on municipal venues, services and events in Piracicaba.
