Brazil measure bans online betting as legal challenges reach Supreme Court

Regulation

Brazil’s Provisional Measure 1.394 of 2026 prohibits online sports betting and restricts gambling-related commercial activity nationwide. Justice Luiz Fux is reportedly expected to rule after the second round of elections on whether the suspension of betting platforms should remain in force or be lifted; the measure faces challenges from industry groups, broadcasters and football clubs.

The measure’s status will determine whether online betting platforms can continue operating in Brazil while the court considers its legality.
