ANJ reiterates French ban on esports betting during Paris tournament
France’s ANJ reminded the public that betting on video-game competitions is prohibited in the country, as the esports World Cup runs in Paris from 6 July to 23 August 2026. The regulator said sites offering such bets to users in France are illegal; the restriction stems from a 2016 law barring betting as part of video-game competitions.
Operators and suppliers must account for France’s prohibition on betting markets tied to video-game competitions.
