Angola's ISJ holds Luanda workshop on gaming authorisation rules

Regulation · SectorWire deskSource published 1 min read

Angola's Gaming Supervision Institute (Instituto de Supervisão de Jogos, ISJ) held a workshop in Luanda on 8 October to set out the procedures for obtaining gaming authorisations, the institute said. The session took place in the auditorium of the Michael Kennedy Building at the University Extension of UCAN.

Among those present were the ISJ's Deputy Director General Cláudio Paulo, along with senior technical officers of the institute and representatives from gaming operators and promoters. According to the ISJ, the workshop sought to make processes clearer for economic operators, promotional gaming entities and users, and to foster voluntary compliance with the relevant regulations. Operators were also given a chance to put regulatory questions to the institute and to exchange practical experiences.

Instruction No. 2/26, dated 15 April, supplied the guidelines that the session examined. The programme covered the rules governing promotional and advertising raffles that involve random draws for commercial or marketing purposes, the compliance requirements attached to prize contests, and the procedures for importing amusement gaming materials lawfully.

The ISJ said the initiative is meant to build stronger collaboration throughout the sector and to encourage oversight that is preventive and information-led, helping to foster a transparent, lawful and responsible gaming environment in Angola.

“Regulation is not just about creating standards. It is also essential to ensure that procedures and rules are clear, properly understood, and fully observed by all stakeholders”

Nerethz Tati, ISJ Director General
