Alberta sets player-protection rules for planned iGaming market
Alberta unveiled a regulatory framework for its planned online gaming market, which is expected to launch later in 2026. The rules require operators to offer tools including deposit and time limits, self-exclusion and support for players showing signs of problem gambling; advertising cannot target young adults or minors or feature professional athletes. Operators can apply to Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis, the report said.
Prospective operators can assess the province’s player-protection and advertising requirements before applying to enter the market.
