Alberta prepares online gambling market as 55-plus operators show interest

Licences & markets

Alberta is preparing to open a regulated online gambling market, with more than 55 operators reportedly interested and nine having completed initial steps. Applicants face a 13 July 2026 licensing deadline, which provincial authorities are considering extending by three months. Operators must register with AGLC and reach a commercial agreement with Alberta iGaming Corporation; applicants must also end unauthorised activity and settle outstanding bets.

Prospective entrants face registration, commercial-agreement and compliance requirements before they can seek Alberta licences.
