ADM official says prediction markets require betting licences in Italy
Antonio Giuliani, head of the online and betting office at Italy’s ADM, said prediction markets should be treated as betting products requiring a gambling licence. Speaking at the SBC Summit in Lisbon, he said European agreement on harmonising online gambling rules or introducing a common tax was currently unlikely, and said Italy would retain limits on eligible betting events.
Operators offering prediction markets in Italy may need a gambling licence and must respect limits on eligible events.
