World Lottery Summit 2026 to address illegal betting and player protection in Sydney

The World Lottery Association and Australia's The Lottery Corporation will hold the World Lottery Summit 2026 in Sydney from 9 to 12 November, the organisers said. The biennial event will take place at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour under the theme United in Purpose: Driving Change, Building Resilience.

The organisers expect between 800 and 1,500 professionals to attend. The programme will focus on combating illegal operators, player protection through data-based predictive models and defending the integrity of sports competitions. It will also cover the evolution of sports betting regulation, cybersecurity, fraud prevention and international cooperation against match manipulation.

According to the organisers, one of the main topics will be the need to coordinate international strategies against competition from unauthorised operators, an issue they said particularly concerns regulated markets. On responsible gambling, experts will examine how to move from mere regulatory compliance towards proactive protection systems able to identify risks through data analysis.

The programme will include conferences, debates and a trade exhibition at which international suppliers will present technology solutions for lotteries and betting. An opening dinner is scheduled at the Sydney Opera House, a building whose construction was partly financed by lottery ticket sales, the organisers said.
