On 19 October, Scientific Games reported that the instant scratch game production site it runs in metro Atlanta, Georgia, has been awarded Level 2 certification under the World Lottery Association Security Control Standard 2024. The facility, which the company calls the biggest lottery scratch game production plant anywhere, remains WLA-certified and now meets the WLA-SCS:2024 Level 2 requirements in full, the top certification tier available to lottery suppliers under that standard.

According to Scientific Games, Level 2 of the standard lays out what a lottery provider must do to run a sound security management structure, so that the integrity, availability and confidentiality of critical information are preserved. The company noted that the framework merges the information security requirements of ISO/IEC 27001:2022, issued by the International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission, with controls specific to lottery security and integrity set by the WLA.

Andrew Jackson, VP of Corporate Responsibility for Scientific Games, said: "Holding our instant scratch game production technology and processes to these rigorous international security standards is important to Scientific Games. Our lottery customers and their players are assured that our products are made using the absolute highest worldwide industry standards."

In 2026, the company's UK instant scratch game facility was certified to WLA-SCS:2024 Level 2. Scientific Games listed several further sites that reached the same certification that year: its National Logistics Centre in Warrington, UK, which serves The National Lottery; the SG Studios digital game development centre on Jersey in the Channel Islands; and its Irish lottery retailer technology facility.

Scientific Games stated that its facilities were first certified to the WLA Security Control Standard back in 2011. The company explained that the process involves a thorough independent audit, surveillance audits each year and a complete recertification every three years.

Beyond that, Scientific Games holds a range of other international certifications covering operational best practice: Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), Environmental Management (ISO 14001), Occupational Health and Safety (ISO 45001), Anti-Bribery (ISO 37001) and the WLA's Responsible Gaming certification. The company also stated that its products account for 70% of instant scratch game retail sales worldwide, and that it supplies games, technologies, analytics and services to 150 lotteries across 50 countries.

“Holding our instant scratch game production technology and processes to these rigorous international security standards is important to Scientific Games. Our lottery customers and their players are assured that our products are made using the absolute highest worldwide industry standards”
