Whitmer proposes Michigan online gambling tax increases
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer proposed tax changes to raise nearly $800 million annually, including measures affecting online casinos and sports betting. Her administration estimates an eight-percentage-point increase on online casino revenue above $185 million would raise $136 million a year; a per-wager charge and the removal of promotional-bet deductions are also proposed.
Operators could face higher Michigan taxes on online casino revenue and sports wagers if lawmakers approve the proposal.
