Lithuania's Finance Ministry blocks proposed gambling and lottery tax increases
Lithuania's Finance Ministry declined to send a Farmers and Greens Union proposal to raise gambling and lottery taxes to the Seimas. The proposal would have increased the gambling duty from 22% to 30% and the lottery tax from 18% to 25%; Deputy Januš Kizenevič said operators already faced costs from regulatory changes. The ministry instead proposed keeping the lottery tax at 18% while changing how its proceeds are allocated.
Operators avoid the proposed higher tax rates, while the lottery tax allocation may change without altering its total rate.
