Wendell Felder files DC bill to license online casinos and ban sweepstakes
Washington DC Councilmember Wendell Felder filed a bill to establish online casino licensing and outlaw sweepstakes platforms in the District. It proposes a $2m licence fee, $500,000 renewals every five years and a 25% tax on adjusted gross gaming revenue. The measure would undergo a specified 60-day congressional review, with rules and a possible launch to follow if it takes effect.
The proposal would set new licensing, tax and local-spending requirements for online casino operators in DC.
