Washington and Louisiana oppose sports prediction markets

Regulation

Washington’s Gambling Commission said event-based contracts are not authorised in the state, while Louisiana’s Gaming Control Board warned licensed betting companies against involvement in sporting event contracts. Louisiana’s advisory said participation could affect a regulated party’s suitability for a licence or permit. Washington said it would monitor ongoing litigation and indicated it was not taking legal action at that stage.

Operators in both states face regulatory warnings that could affect market access and, in Louisiana, licence suitability.
