Victorian regulator considers legal action over influencers’ gambling posts
The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission is reviewing influencers’ social media posts about poker machines and other gambling, and is considering legal action if it finds breaches of the law. Chief executive Suzy Neilan said the regulator expects venues to prevent filming in gaming areas. The commission cited poker machine losses of AU$3.14bn in the most recent financial year and said it would continue monitoring content before deciding what action to take.
Victorian venues and influencers may face enforcement if posts or filming breach gambling advertising rules.
