Uruguay lottery workers oppose betting-advertising exception for Libertadores final
AFAL, the union representing Uruguay’s National Directorate of Lotteries and Quinielas staff, opposed requests by CONMEBOL and the Uruguayan Football Association to relax betting-advertising rules for the Copa Libertadores final in Montevideo. The union said the proposed exception could allow international betting companies without Uruguayan operating licences to promote and sponsor the event.
The dispute concerns whether unlicensed betting companies can advertise and sponsor a major event in Uruguay.
