Regulation

The UK government announced that online casino tax will rise from 21% to 40% next April, with digital sports betting duty increasing from 15% to 25% in 2027. Evoke forecast an annual tax increase of £125m to £135m, while Entain estimated losses of £100m in 2026 and £150m after the sports-betting rate change; Regulus Partners warned that mitigation measures could be insufficient.

The higher duties affect operators’ projected costs and strategies in the UK market.
