The UK Gambling Commission announced Sue Young’s appointment as executive director of operations. Young joins from HM Revenue & Customs, where she was director of debt management, and will oversee several of the regulator’s operational functions.

UK Tote Group appointed Andrew Weir to its board as a non-executive director, reportedly following COO Dave Hammond’s departure earlier in April. The available report does not give further details of Weir’s appointment.
A study found that 30% of young people in Britain had spent their own money on gambling in the previous 12 months, up from 27% in 2024. The Gambling Commission said protection from gambling harm must continue to improve; the study put the share with gambling problems at about 1%, with a further 2% at elevated risk.
Tim Miller, a director at the Gambling Commission, said affiliates serving both licensed and unlicensed operators could face criminal and regulatory action. He described affiliates as a significant part of the black market.
Allwyn UK appointed Bridget Lea managing director of retail, the company said. The newly created role takes over from operations director Jenny Blogg, who is due to leave in early spring for an external opportunity. Lea will oversee work with National Lottery retailers across the UK.
Sarah Fox will move from DCMS to lead the Gambling Commission’s Policy, Research and Statistics functions and National Lottery regulation. She has led DCMS’s Gambling and Lotteries team for four years and brings more than 23 years of Civil Service experience.
Sarah Fox, a senior leader at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), is to join the Gambling Commission's Executive Team on secondment, the Commission announced on 29 July 2026. Fox will lead the Commission's Policy and Research and Statistics functions and National Lottery regulation.
