Italy’s Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) said gambling-related businesses accounted for 0.9% of entities analysed in objective reports on cash transactions in the second half of 2025. The report also included gaming service providers among entities subject to inspection activity.
The figure and inspection reference give operators an indication of the sector’s exposure to Italy’s anti-money-laundering oversight.

Italy’s Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) issued updated instructions for detecting and reporting suspicious transactions, effective from 1 July 2026, replacing guidance from 2011. The UIF explicitly includes gambling service providers among the entities covered and says reports should be relevant, complete, clear, timely and reliable.
Representatives of Argentina’s casino chamber CASCBA and the Financial Information Unit (UIF) held a working meeting on regulatory requirements and cooperation, according to the participants. They discussed implementation of UIF Resolution No. 194/2023 and illegal, unlicensed gambling. The UIF said the meeting supports priorities in its 2026–2030 management plan.
Mexico’s Secretariat of the Interior said it had completed a proposal to reform the Federal Gaming and Sweepstakes Law, which it will submit to the Security Cabinet for consideration. Segob head Rosa Icela Rodríguez said around 20 casinos linked to money laundering or tax fraud had been closed through criminal and tax investigations involving the Attorney General’s Office and the Financial Intelligence Unit.
Former Italian senator Riccardo Pedrizzi urged the government to complete its land-based public gaming reform before the 29 August deadline for exercising the tax delegation. He said proposed concession tenders would not resolve existing problems unless the reform also addressed territorial rules governing gaming venues. Pedrizzi outlined possible legal challenges, further concession extensions or lower tender values if the issue remains unresolved.
