Mexico’s Segob completes proposed gaming law reform for cabinet review
Mexico’s Secretariat of the Interior said it had completed a proposal to reform the Federal Gaming and Sweepstakes Law, which it will submit to the Security Cabinet for consideration. Segob head Rosa Icela Rodríguez said around 20 casinos linked to money laundering or tax fraud had been closed through criminal and tax investigations involving the Attorney General’s Office and the Financial Intelligence Unit.
Operators may face a revised regulatory framework if the proposal proceeds beyond cabinet review.
