Uganda regulator reports UGX8.3tn in gaming stakes for FY2024/25
Uganda’s National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) reported stakes of UGX 8.3 trillion in FY2024/25, up from UGX 4.3 trillion in FY2023/24, after electronic monitoring was introduced. The board also reported UGX 323 billion in gaming tax revenue for FY2024/25; the report says 93% of wagering now takes place online and reports that a 30% gambling tax and 15% withholding tax took effect on 1 July 2026.
The reported figures and tax changes affect operator oversight and the cost of gambling activity in Uganda.
