Temer says he does not support Brazil’s 2018 online sports betting law
Former Brazilian president Michel Temer said he does not support his decision to sign the 2018 law that opened the way for online sports betting. In an interview, he called the move an intermediate option amid pressure over casino legalisation and advocated stricter regulation and supervision; he also said he had not changed his view that regulation would follow.
Temer’s comments revisit the law that enabled online sports betting and his position on tighter oversight of the sector.
